We determined that our test jog wasn’t rigorous enough to loosen the wrenches, but perhaps a more rigorous transportation method, like the set being loose in the backseat of your car, could pull the wrenches out of their slots. While this set passed all of our tests without any problems, we deducted a point for case ergonomics because some of the wrenches arrived out of their slots. We were also able to easily loosen an extra tight screw. While these wrenches didn’t have ball ends like the first two sets in this review, we were still able to loosen a hard-to-reach screw on a piece of furniture. Regarding performance, we tested three wrenches in the middle of the size spectrum and all three loosened and tightened screws without difficulty. Despite the wrenches not being in their slots, they stayed enclosed in the case. While none of the wrenches fell out of their slots, the smaller pieces arrived out of their slots, signaling that they couldn’t stay in place during transit. We could easily see all of the sizes and pull out the wrench we needed to use. The wrenches came in a hard plastic case that opened flat on a table. However, the thin wrenches were said to be delicate and broke easily. Positive reviews mentioned that the set had a variety of wrenches and the common sizes, which tend to be the ones in the middle, were durable and didn’t bend or snap under pressure. Additionally, the wrenches come in a hinged storage case that opens flat, making it easier to access the wrenches. This set comes with 15 short-arm wrenches measured in millimeters and 15 long-arm wrenches measured in inches, giving you enough wrench sizes and arm length options to fit multiple screw types. The wrenches in this set performed well, but we deducted a point from the set’s case ergonomics score because of how difficult they were to get out of the case. The wrenches were also able to loosen a tight screw without a problem. The wrenches in this set had ball ends like the wrenches in the first set, which helped with reaching a screw on the underside of a piece of furniture. All three were able to loosen and tighten screws on the piece of furniture we ordered. Similar to the previous set, we tested three wrenches of different sizes from this set. The set’s case did a good job of keeping the wrenches in place, but the rubber around the wrenches was extremely tight, making it difficult to pull them out when we needed to use them. However, some customers felt like the set skipped a few wrench sizes, making it impossible to loosen all of the screws they came across. When trying to loosen an extra tight screw, the wrenches didn’t strip the screw or snap, unlike competing products made in China. Key FeaturesĬustomers were pleased with the quality of the wrenches. The ball ends on the longer arms allow you to come at a fastener at an angle, which is useful for hard-to-reach screws like those on the underside of a piece of furniture. The wrenches in this set have both straight and ball ends. This set ticked all of the boxes in terms of what you need out of the wrenches and case, so we gave it full points across the board. The ball-end of the screws was especially useful when loosening the latter screw because we were able to come at the screw at an angle instead of straight on. The wrenches were able to loosen an extra tight screw and a screw on the underside of a piece of furniture. Regarding performance, we tried three wrenches in the set and none of them had issues with loosening or tightening screws. The holes in the rubber fit the wrenches perfectly, and we liked how the front row of the case swung open because that made it easier to pull out a wrench. This set’s case kept the wrenches in place and made them easy to access. However, some customers said that the wrenches only had a 10-degree entry angle instead of the 25 degrees like TEKTON advertised. Key FeaturesĬustomers liked how the wrenches in this set had ball ends and how they could reach any screw because they could come in at an angle and the ball-end would fit into the screw. Additionally, these wrenches have a black oxide finish that protects against corrosion and color-coded housing for instant identification. The holes perfectly fit each wrench and you can swing open the case to pull out the wrench you need. The case for this set keeps your wrenches in place and makes it easy to pull out a particular size.

It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it should be enough to tidy up a small to medium size garden. You get a 2.0 Ah battery included with the trimmer, which is about powerful enough to run on top speed for about 20 minutes. You simply pull and twist the shaft to convert the trimmer from horizontal to vertical mode, and the wheel means you’re always at the optimum height for cutting. Something that I think makes this the best garden strimmer for edging is the guide wheel on the string end. There’s eco mode that saves power but lacks a bit of grunt, and boost mode that provides the optimum cut speed, in my experience. An interesting feature is the two power modes you can select via a switch in front of the handle. It makes a 28 cm wide cut path that isn’t adjustable compared with the Ryobi OLT1832, but it’s a happy medium that can cut small lawns and get in between bushes when you need to. It also boasts an auto line feed system, which means you don’t waste so much string like you would on an older style “bump” feed trimmer. You can easily change the length of the shaft by twisting a locking collar in the middle too, so it’s fine for users of different heights.Ī single string trimmer, it’s not quite as powerful as a heavy duty double string version, but it is strong enough to trim heavy grasses and weeds without complaint. You get a nicely sized ergonomic rear handle, ambidextrous safety switch, and a big front handle that can adjust to a comfortable angle easily. The last thing you want is a heavy garden strimmer, so the overall weight of just 2.6 kg is impressive. If you’ve got oddly shaped patches of grass or weeds, or if you need to keep on top of your edging, this machine is quite hard to beat.ĭecked out in BLACK+DECKER’s recognisable black and orange colours, it’s a lightweight 18 V trimmer that looks a bit plastic but is surprisingly robust for its size and weight. The BLACK+DECKER STC1820 cordless string trimmer is a brilliant budget piece of kit. For this reason, it’s one of the best cordless strimmers overall.Įven if you don’t use the edger function very often, the adjustable design, push-button cable feeder, and sheer power of this strimmer make it, in our opinion, the best cordless strimmer for the UK market and a worthwhile purchase for gardens of all sizes. Nevertheless, it offers just as many, if not more, features as several of the high-end strimmers out there. It costs a little more than some of the budget options, but it’s not as pricey as high-end models. The WORX GT 3.0 would be considered a mid-range cordless trimmer. The fact that it charges in just one hour is a huge plus, and you always have the option of purchasing a larger battery. The battery that came with this cordless grass trimmer had a run time of around 30 minutes, but you can’t expect too much from a 2.0Ah battery. However, you’ll still be able to strim dense areas by cutting thicker stems in two or three sections (rather than in a single swipe) – it’ll just take a little longer. It handled the easy stuff (long, thick grass and light weeds) without a problem, but did struggle with thicker vegetation. Whilst the strimmer felt lightweight to hold, its power was evident as soon as it was turned on. However, you may want to spend a little more time exploring its many adjustable features – from the shaft, to the handle, to the angle of the head – these can all be altered to make the strimmer as easy and comfortable to use as possible. The WORX GT 3.0 required very little assembly – it was up and running in less than five minutes. A 2-in-1 tool that also has an edger function, this strimmer is packed with features and also marked at a reasonable price. WORX is known for producing high-quality garden tools, one of which is the GT 3.0 Cordless Grass Strimmer. Though some cheap foam and hybrid mattresses still feel reasonably comfortable, more expensive ones-like those we recommend in our guides to the best foam mattresses and the best hybrid mattresses-tend to be made from denser foams and to be more durable. After testing several cheap innerspring mattresses, we found that most priced under $500 (for a queen) were almost unbearably uncomfortable. This is especially true if you’re shopping for an innerspring mattress. If you buy a more expensive mattress, you’ll likely be happier with your purchase over the long term. However, if you do have more-specialized needs or want to make a long-term purchase (you want your mattress to last five years or longer), a cheap mattress might not be the greatest idea. A cheap mattress can also be a good choice for an infrequently used guest room. As we note above, if you don’t have specific sleep concerns (such as back problems) and have a tight budget, if you move frequently, or if you otherwise don’t need a mattress to last for more than a few years, you can get a decently comfortable mattress for less than $400 (for a queen). Although that represents only a small fraction of the mattresses available for sale, FindOurView gave us detailed insights into the mattresses we thought might be pick material, primarily about what most people seemed to like and dislike about them over a longer period of time than we’re able to gauge in our at-home testing. Customer reviews: We analyzed 6,519 reviews on Amazon across six different mattress companies with the aid of an artificial-intelligence-driven tool called FindOurView. We didn’t test any mattresses with warranty coverage shorter than 10 years because we valued companies that at least nominally stood behind their products and would work with customers if a mattress was defective (such as a severe indent in the foam, or a mattress that failed to expand to full height). Warranty: As is the case with more-expensive mattresses, a 10-year warranty isn’t difficult to find on a mattress in this price range. If you buy your mattress from Amazon, your purchase generally falls under a 30-day return policy, though the window may be longer depending on the mattress. With some companies, your trial period depends on where you buy the mattress. You’re less likely to encounter a 90- or 100-night trial with mattresses in this price range, but it’s not impossible to find. A free trial period (or the ability to return): We focused on companies that offer at least some ability to try the mattress and to get your money back if you don’t like it.For innerspring and hybrid mattresses, we considered the coil count, as well, looking for mattresses that had at least 500 coils (queen size), which we considered the bare minimum for a passably comfortable spring mattress. So we also looked at the mattresses’ dimensions (focusing on options that were at least 10 or 12 inches thick), the number of foam layers (ideally, three or more), and the mattresses’ total weights (for foam mattresses, at least 65 pounds for a 12-inch-thick queen) in order to get a read on how substantial each mattress was. Unfortunately, few mattress companies we contacted for this guide would divulge the specific densities of the foams they use in their mattresses. Decent materials and construction: As we note in our mattress buying guide, foam density is a good proxy for mattress quality as we also mention in that buying guide, a decent memory-foam mattress should have a foam density of at least 3 pounds per cubic foot, and for non-memory polyfoam, 1.8 pounds per cubic foot. However, she adds, "There are certain things you can do to prepare yourself for the baby's arrival. It is sensible to start getting extra rest and some early nights so that, as soon as labour does start you are not exhausted. "Telling family and friends that you have lost your mucus plug simply puts every one needlessly on high alert, when it might still be some weeks before baby makes an appearance and you can do without the frequent calls and other people’s anxiety." "If the mucus is just as described above and you have no other symptoms, then simply protect your pants and don't worry," reassures Rachel. What should you do when you lose it?ĭon't panic! Just because you've lost the mucus plug doesn't mean your baby is on the way. This doesn't mean your labour won't start, "The range of normal is very large," she explains. Rachel also reminds us that it's also normal not to lose the mucus plug. As the cervix softens more and more, it starts to pull up a little and this can cause a little blood to be lost (this is quite normal) and so the mucus is then mixed with that. So anything from an opaque, thick, sticky vaginal loss through to a slippery, clear slimy mucus streaked with blood is quite normal." "It is very slimy and difficult to clean away with tissue. "In truth, while the mucus can sometimes be quite thick, opaque and sticky, more often it is like raw egg-white. "The term 'plug' is very misleading - it makes it sound solid, like a cork," says Rachel. It could be a brown discharge, or contain blood, hence its nickname the bloody show. Once again, this varies from woman to woman, with different appearances for different mums. Sometimes the mucus gets dislodged and comes away following sex or a vaginal examination." What does the mucus plug look like and what colour is it? "At the opposite end of the scale, if the mucus stays stuck up inside the vagina, you might not see it at all until your baby is coming out. Because the mucus is made by the cells of the cervix, as it comes away, more is made. "The mucus can start coming away as soon as the cervix begins softening, which means that you might get a mucusy discharge up to some weeks before the first contractions," she explained. Rachel says it's important to remember that although people might tell you that seeing the mucus plug means that labour is starting, this isn't true. "Sometimes the mucus stays stuck up inside the top of the vagina and sometimes it comes out and we can see it." Does losing the mucus plug mean I'm going into labour? "This softening process can start some weeks before even the very earliest stage of labour and then, as soon as the cervix is softer, it can let go of the mucus. As pregnancy nears the end, hormones cause the cervix to soften and become stretchy in preparation for labour and birth. "Normally, the cervix is firm and unable to stretch open," says Rachel. There are plenty of myths surrounding pregnancy show, but it may come out differently for each woman. "Plus, because it is slippery, it can help lubricate the vagina during labour and birth." When does the mucus plug come away and what does it mean? "Because it is sticky, it can stop infectious bugs from going up into the womb," she says. The mucus plug is a sticky slippery substance, made by the cells of your cervix. Rachel explained there are two reasons for it. A specialist midwife for more than 30 years, Rachel now works as an author and parenting expert. What exactly is a mucus plug, what colour is it and what happens when you lose it? We spoke to Rachel FitzD. So, it's very likely that you will have heard of mucus plug, or show, and be wondering all about it. You'll find words such as nub theory, linea nigra and pelvic floor in your everyday conversations. Here’s what you should know about losing the mucus plug during pregnancy. If you're pregnant, no doubt you will have come across a lot of new words or phrases. A mucus plug in pregnancy plays an important role in the protection of the baby and can also act as an indicator of labour. Flip the cutlets and spray a little more oil and air fry for 5 additional minutes. Prepare a cooling rack lined with a few layers of paper towels. Heat 1 ½ - inches of oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot until it reaches 340 degrees F (170 C). Flip it over and repeat until every surface of the chicken is coated in an even layer of panko. Air fryer at 400F for 5 minutes on the first side. Press gently on the crumbs to help them adhere to the chicken. In addition to chicken katsu, you can also make pork or seafood katsu. Depending on the size of your basket, place the cutlets in the fryer with some space in-between. In Japanese culture, Katsu refers to a cutlet of meat that is coated with panko breadcrumbs and then fried. If you have a basket-type air fryer, you might have to cook in two batches if the chicken katsu doesn’t fit in a single layer (they won’t get crispy if you stack them). Spray the basket with a coat of avocado oil. Whip up some Katsu sauce and serve over rice. I air fried the chicken katsu using an Instant Omni Pro, but any air fryer should work well. Air Fried Chicken Katsu is tender and juicy on the inside and crispy crunchy on the outside. I use boneless skinless chicken thighs because it stays juicy even with the long air fry time, I haven’t tried chicken breasts yet, but I think it would dry out before the panko got brown enough – so if you want to use chicken breast, I would stick to deep frying. Use air fried chicken katsu for Japanese curry, katsu sandwiches, katsu plate lunches or serve it simply with tonkatsu sauce. The only downside I noticed was the panko coating doesn’t brown as evenly in an air fryer compared to deep frying, but that’s not a big deal for me. Chicken breasts are pounded thin and then coated with panko bread crumbs and fried. (depending on the sizes of the chicken pieces.) Place some boiled rice in serving bowls, add. I’ve had an air fryer for years, but I never tried making chicken katsu in it – after making it last night, I’m happy to say that it turned out great and super crispy! It’s so much more convenient and uses very little oil to cook. What is Chicken Katsu Chicken katsu is a popular Japanese comfort food. Spray with oil and and cook for 12-16 minutes until cooked through. The fish was the best fried fish that Ive had in a long time.
